Kankakee Valley Park District - Board of Commissioners

Kankakee Valley Park District was established in 1925. The District serves the 36,000 residents of Aroma Park and Kankakee Townships. It is governed by five elected Park Board of Commissioners, and employs 15 full-time staff and approximately 200 part-time, seasonal, and temporary workers.

The Kankakee Valley Park District Foundation is organized and operated exclusively for educational, civic and charitable purposes. The Foundation’s mission is to improve the quality of life in the Kankakee area by assisting in the preservation of open space and enhancing recreation facilities and programs in Kankakee for people of all ages to enjoy. Its purpose is to:

Provide scholarships for at risk families in need of financial support for programming
Provide scholarships for Kankakee Valley Park District Team Members pursuing education in the field of Parks and Recreation
Capital improvements in the community
Encourage the acquisition, development and preservation of park land in and around the Kankakee area
Appeal to donors and assist in raising funds and receiving property
Implement new and innovative projects
Assist private citizens, civic clubs, community organizations and industries in their giving

Board Meetings are held on the 4th Monday of the month at 5:00pm at our Administrative Office, 893 W. Station Street, Kankakee, IL 60901. The meetings are open to the public.
