Campgrounds for KVPD!

Grand Opening for the KVPD Campgrounds will be May 2012. This picturesque site will offer an area for RV’s and tent camping. Most RV areas do have optional electric. Campers can leave their site for a stroll along the beautiful Kankakee River, go for a bike ride along the new bike path or launch their boat fora day on the water. All of these opportunities (and more) are within walking distance from the campgrounds. In 2012, KVPD will also open a dog park only minutes away from the River Road Softball fields and KVPD Campgrounds.
Camping – Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Quarantine is now in effect for Kankakee County. No firewood can be brought into the park from other counties or states. You must use alternate sources or purchase firewood in Kankakee County. KVPD offers a beautiful new campground for RV’s and tent camping. At these affordable rates, patrons can stay for a maximum of 14 nights per 30-day period and reservations must be made at least five days before the campsite is needed. You must be 18 years old to rent a campsite and you must be able to establish your camp at the time you obtain a permit. All campsites share the fire pit, picnic tables and grilling area. All patrons are responsible for keeping the grounds clean and free from damage. Pleasecontact the park district office at (815) 939-1311 if there is excessive garbage or damage to the campgrounds. Dog Park

The KVPD is building a dog park to give our canine companions a safe area to exercise and play off-leash! Additionally it will provide dog lovers in the community an opportunity to socialize while their dogs interact. The project currently includes a divided fenced in area for small and large dogs, parking close to the site, shade trees, and trash cans. The KVPD is accepting donations in any dollar amount to add to the project. Interested persons and companies may donate toward specific
components for the park such as benches, pick up stations, and agility equipment. All donations will be acknowledged on a thank you sign displayed at the park. For more information please call 815-939-1311.
