River Road 5K Run
Take part in the Kankakee Valley Park District 1st Annual Road Run. Join us as we kick off this community tradition this spring! Race day is Saturday, March 10 at 9 a.m. Participants can enjoy a 5K Run and 5K Recreational Walk through the River Front Trail. The first 150 entrants will receive a t-shirt. Overall winners in the 5K run will receive gifts cards and medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age group of the 5K Run. Top 25 walkers will receive a recognition award. Sorry No Dogs allowed!

BATTLE of the BANDS
Get ready to rock this summer at the Kankakee Valley Park District’s Battle of the Bands! It’s an all day competition which will be held at the Bird Park Band Shell. Band members must be between the ages of 12 - 21, with half the band’s members being no older than 19. The top three bands will have the opportunity to play at this year’s Power Boat Nationals on the Kankakee River. The winning band will earn a spot to compete in a regional competition with location, date, and time TBA. The winner of the regional competition will compete in a statewide competition at the Illinois State Fair in August. A sound system will be provided; however, band members must supply all musical instruments. If you’ve got a hot band plan now to enter the battle by submitting your application; demo CD/DVD; or links to your website, MySpace, or You Tube site identifying 3-4 songs for review. Rules and regulations apply. Applications are available at the Bird Park Administrative Office or online at www.kvpd.com .

Flash Light Easter Egg Hunt
With Easter just around the corner the Easter Bunny is very busy hiding all his eggs! This year come join KVPD and the Easter Bunny for a very special night time Easter Egg Hunt! Please dress appropriate for the weather and bring your Easter Basket, flashlights, and camera’s. The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures after the hunt.
