The Kankakee Valley Park District will hold a community meeting on August 18, 2023, 5:00 to 7:00 pm, at 893 W. Station Street, Kankakee IL, to provide interested parties an opportunity to express their views on potential improvements for Bird Park.
The Park District is proposing to submit an Illinois Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) Grant project offered through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources in August of 2023. These funds are to be used for a development project that could include the following activities: Expanding the walking path around Bird Park. In addition, the grant project could include redesigning and repair of the Splash Pad, paddle boats for the quarry, naturescape for the old t-ball field. Total amount of OSLAD grant funds to be requested is $600,000.00.
