Open Year-Round - Come Hang Out With Us!

Located at 150 N Indiana Ave, in downtown Kankakee, the RecCenter offers a full gymnasium with open gym for youth, teens, adults and family time.

The Charlton Room seats 150 people banquet style or 200 people theater style and offers a full use kitchen. This multipurpose room can be used for meetings, baby showers, wedding receptions, retirement parties, corporate events, seminars and so much more!

Open Gym Basketball Schedule

Meet new people and stay active during one of our basketball Open Gym sessions! A minimum of 10 players with a maximum of 40 players per session.

Ages 18 and up

Open Gym Volleyball Schedule

Grab your friends and hit the court! Open Gym Volleyball welcomes players of all skill levels to enjoy casual play, practice, and friendly competition. Come spike, serve, and have fun!

Open Gym Pickleball Schedule

If you love tennis, you'll love Pickleball! This fun sport combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong, all wrapped up in one fun game.

All Ages

• Tuesdays, October 7, 2025 - April 28, 2026

• Saturdays, October 11, 2025 - April 25, 2026

Toddler Open Gym Schedule

Wiggles Welcome! Toddler Open Gym gives kids ages 2–5 a fun, safe space to run, jump, and play. Join us Mondays and Fridays from 9:00–11:00 am at the KVPD Rec Center (150 N. Indiana Ave., Kankakee) now through the end of March for just $3 per child.

First Friday of the month is FREE to Kankakee residents (please bring ID).

No registration required. Just drop in and play!
