Kankakee Valley Park District Announces a Vacancy on the Board

The Board of Commissioner for the Kankakee Valley Park District is seeking individuals’ interest in serving on the Park District Board. The board is seeking the best-qualified candidate for Park Board Commissioner, and provides equal opportunity in a manner which does not discriminate against anyperson because of race, creed, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, ancestry, age, martial, civil union or family status, physical or mental handicap, pregnancy or unfavorable discharge from military service. The candidate must be a resident of the district.

The open seat has an unexpired term that will be up for election at the consolidated election in April 2027. The park district plans to appoint someone to fulfill the obligations until the winner of the next statutorily required election is seated. Individuals interested in applying for the open seat should pick up an information packet, submit a letter of interest along with a board questionnaire of qualifications addressed to:

Interested candidates must apply by 4:30 pm on June 4, 2026. The board will have screenings of candidates and then proceed to conduct personal interviews. The park district board reserves the right to appoint any person, or not make the appointment, for any reason it deems appropriate. The Park Board meetings are held on the fourth Monday of the month.
