Throughout this difficult time, we have reduced expenses, reduced staffing, continue to maintain our parks with a reduction in staff and remained fiscally responsible. Our priority is to provide parks and recreation for our community. We sincerely appreciate your support and patience as our team continues to work quickly to adapt to the current situation & focus on keeping you safe.
Staff has spent the last several months developing plans and implementing modifications that will provide enriching experiences, while adhering to the guidelines provided by local health officials and the Restore Illinois Plan. Modifications will allow for:
We have been waiting for the time to come to announce that we will be reopening some facilities and get back to recreation. While our community and citizens are of the upmost important to us, we want to ensure your health and safety while at our locations, therefore we will continue to follow all guidelines and recommendations from IDPH, DCEO, and the governor of Illinois. Moving to Tier 1, we plan to have the max capacity allowable within facilities and programs. We have listed below the two categories; 1) Meetings/social events/gatherings and 2) Organized group recreational activities, to highlight the restrictions we will be under.
We have taken this opportunity to modify our programs and facilities to ensure as many programs may run under the restrictions safely. We will continue to provide you with outdoor activities and special events, and virtual programming options. Remember our Parks and trails are open.
Bird Park Administrative office is by appointment only at this time. Please call us at 815.939.1311 Monday through Friday between 8:30am- 4:30pm for assistance. Please check on our website for up-to-date information as schedules, facility openings, office hours, etc. may change as needed.

*Level 4 Tournaments, out of conference/league play, out of state play allowed; championship games allowed

Rentals for the following buildings may not exceed a capacity of 25.
Goselin, Bird Park, and Jeffers (capacity of 10 only for Jeffers).
Rental of Gym for 1 group of 25 (1/2 gym) or 2 groups of 25 (full gym). *No contact practice, trainings only. No competitive play. Depending on activity planned for gym, specific restrictions may apply. Specific Programming in the gym will return.
Offering classes, special events, and open skate. Maximum capacity for on ice is 50 with groups no larger than 25 and maximum of 25 spectators in the upstairs spectator area. Hockey in groups of 25 with max on ice capacity of 50. Intra-team scrimmages allowed, with parental consent for minors; no competitive play. Locker room availability in the coming days.
Open 7:30 am – 11:00am Monday through Friday for walkers. No more than 25 people at a time, must be 6 feet apart, wear a mask at all times and follow the directions in the room to walk in the same direction. Closed on national holidays, weekends and special events.
For your health and other patrons, please wear a mask and stay 6 ft apart while at any of our facilities.
Our parks and trails are open – please use social distancing to enjoy dispersed recreation.
For the safety of our employees and to comply with social distancing best practices, our facilities are closed during the stay‐at‐home order. Our Maintenance Operations Staff continues to perform essential services such as mowing and trash collection in our parks. The safety of our staff is a top priority. Staff members are working individually or in small crews to ensure proper social distancing is maintained while completing tasks. Personal protective equipment including masks, gloves, and disinfectant products are also available to our staff. We ask that you help our staff by minimizing the trash left in our parks. Please use the proper trash receptacles or carry out any litter during your visit including tissues, gloves, or pet waste.
Yes, our Operations staff is also busy at work preparing our facilities for when we are able to welcome you back. Staff has accomplished the following during this time:
- Deep cleaned facilities
- Disinfected all surfaces
- Cleaned carpeted areas
At this time, we are following state and local orders. We are hopeful that we will be able to safely reopen our office soon. All events and programming will be dependent on future modifications and restrictions as per the Governor’s Orders. Please continue to check our website for updates.

Refunds will automatically be processed for cancelled programs and events. You do not need to request a refund. We appreciate your patience as we work to process all refunds as quickly as possible. Refunds will go back to your original form of payment (cash payments will be refunded by check).
