Throughout this difficult time, we have reduced expenses, reduced staffing, continue to maintain our parks with a reduction in staff and remained fiscally responsible. Our priority is to provide parks and recreation for our community. We sincerely appreciate your support and patience as our team continues to work quickly to adapt to the current situation & focus on keeping you safe.
Staff has spent the last several months developing plans and implementing modifications that will provide enriching experiences, while adhering to the guidelines provided by local health officials and the Restore Illinois Plan. Modifications will allow for:
Based on the governor’s new Executive Order, updated state guidance for the Bridge Phase of the Restore Illinois Plan, and updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Kankakee Valley Park District is updating its policies regarding face masks and social distancing. These rules are effective on May 21, 2021 and are subject to change as the state and CDC continue to issue additional guidance.
Under the “Bridge Phase” guidelines, only those that are fully vaccinated are no longer required to wear facial coverings for many activities. You are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after the administration of the final course of your vaccine—in other words, 14 days after the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or 14 days after the administration of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
The Kankakee Valley Park District still encourages all patrons to continue using facial coverings indoors, as well as outdoors during activities and when social distancing of at least 6 feet is not practical. Regardless of vaccination status, please refrain from coming onto property when you have signs or symptoms of COVID, including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
Face coverings and social distancing are still required when:
· An individual is not fully vaccinated.
· For all children ages 2-11.
· While on busses, trains and other forms of enclosed transportation.
· High traffic indoor areas of (District) facilities, such as lobbies, washrooms, hallways, foyers and offices, regardless of vaccination status unless under the age of 2 or with a valid medical exemption.
· Otherwise directed by Kankakee Valley Park District Personnel.
